A brief background about me:

I started life on August 25th in West Allis, Wisconsin.  This means two things: 1) I'm always the youngest (it's the curse of summer birthdays.  No worries, I'll have my glory day when all my friends are 50 and I'm still 49, ha!), and 2) I'm a Milwaukee native and love this city more than most.

Growing up in the suburb of New Berlin lead to an all American upbringing, with a latin twist.  My mother is one hundred percent Mexican and Puerto Rican.  She ensures my siblings and I are aware of our ethnic background.  While I speak enough spanish to get by and consume more rice and beans than any person on this planet should, I am probably the whitest Mexican you will ever meet, appearance wise.  My first name and middle names, Sara Teresa, are spelled the spanish way, no "h".  Nonetheless, I have one of the most generic names: Sara Johnson, but let me assure you, I am anything but generic.

Every summer of my life is spent on Lake Michigan, sailing up and down the Wisconsin and Michigan coasts.  I could tell you stories about life on the high seas, just ask.  In turn, I get a lot of reading accomplished, mostly mysteries, memoirs, and the occasional business type read.  The best book of all times, hands down, "I am Not Myself These Days" by Josh Kilmer-Purcell.  I've read it 4 times, and counting...

In my spare time I try to keep up with the latest trends in social media, cook fabulous meals and bake scrumptious goodies, take my dog for a walk and ponder my thoughts, sip soy chi tea lattes (us lactose intolerant people can't get enough soy!), and spend time with family and friends.  I keep busy by helping launch a new Milwaukee magazine, 2 Cents Milwaukee and do consulting work with a couple friends helping business incorporate social media into their marketing mix.

In closing, I still sleep with a teddy bear and blanket, Mr. Beeps and Mimi.  They are pictured on this page.  While some snicker, these two have been with me since day one and once bought my way into sitting in the cockpit on a flight from St. Louis to Minneapolis.  If you're clever after reading this you'll now understand the genealogy of my Twitter name.
